24 hours, 515km, more headwind than not, a little rain, no sun (no sun cream required). It was a contrasting Oppy to last year, a similar distance, but very different weather (you can access last year’s report here).
This year we finished in Geelong and the course as a result was lumpier than the Rochester finish. It included a beautiful loop out through the Pyrenees. I can’t tell you too much about the western plains that followed after that as it was proper dark by then. All five members of team Postie Run finished and we covered enough kilometres throughout the day and night to take out the furthest distance award for Victoria. It may not have been one of the new records set by Team Brevet (furthest distance at 800km!) and the all women Five Abreast team (a new best of 617km for a women’s team), but it was still an exceptional team effort with everyone sharing the load even though two of the crew had never ridden over 300km before, let alone anywhere near the 500!

A massive congratultaions to the whole team: Marty, Mark, Blair and Terry. Thanks to Audax for another fantastic event and to our families for collecting the wreckage at the end.
A special thanks to our wonderful support - Stig and Amanda.
